1: Scientists have detected a red giant star, named BD+48 740, devouring a planet revolving around it. The act of devouring is detected by the presence of Lithium signature and highly eccentric orbit of the next planet. 2: A team of US-Spanish-Polish scientists have observed a red giant star, using the Hobby Eberly telescope in Texas, which is undergoing the expansion of its out surface. As it is expanding it is devouring a planet, orbiting it at a distance less than its surface expansion. The team of scientists have concluded that the planet is currently being devoured by this distant star on the basis of two considerations. The star’s spectra have shown the signature of Lithium, which is not present in such stars. Lithium was produced during the big bang, and it is not found in the stars of this age.
